Update: Guest Book, Message Board, Spambots

:angry: I removed the Old Guest Book and Message Board. The spammers and Hackers are on them everyday, either by spamming them or hacking into my files, so the days of the free Guest Books and free Message Boards are gone. Maybe sometime in the future, when someone figures out how to combat these people and come up with a secure Guest Book and Message Board, I will install them, but as of now, they are open season to these people, just like spam in your email accts, they just do not stop. We really need some Laws against these people. I added some spambot traps to the site, if you see any link with spambot in it probably best not to go to that page, my way of fighting back.
Update: I installed a new anti spam Guestbook/Message Board, hopefully it works to combat spambots. I manually entered most of the enteries from the old Guestbook, there was no way to import them into the new database, I will probably get the old Message board back up, after they get a new version done, they are trying to implement the same security features as this Guestbook has, until they get it perfected, I will have to keep it off the site, for security reasons. By using the old message board I will be able to save the 1200 + messages that were on the board. Keeping a web site Secure, is getting to be A LOT of work. Thank God there a lot of GOOD Folks out there that really care and try very hard to keep up with these criminals. Just a thought, but couldn’t the Government use it’s spying program, to track down some of these people, at least the major spammers and or Hackers. Hey Washington we need a little help here, they are trying to ruin the Web as we know it, that will help LOL, bangs head on desk , NOT, lol
Update 8/18/2006: I wrote a page about how I, as a webmaster, try to combat Spambots and Spammers, we can only try to combat these people, they are alwise changing their tactics, so, it is an ongoing problem for us and the internet as a whole, it is listed under the Main Menu under Computer Help/Fighting Spambots, there are also some tips for you as a user of a website and emailer.
