I recently help a lady with her Laptop running Vista and she wanted her pictures to show as thumbnails instead of Icons. If you go to Documents, then go to Organize, then choose Folder and Search options, then open the View tab, uncheck the first line that reads Always show icons, never thumbnails. Click Apply and OK, your pictures should now be displayed as thumbnails. This works in Vista and Windows 7.
I just recently installed Windows 7 on one of my computers which had a Linksys NC100TX Network card in it. 7 will not load drivers for it and Linksys has no updated drivers for this card. I bought a brand new Linksys LNE100TX EtherFast card and that will not work with 7 either, it is not even listed on the box that it will work with Vista and I learned on the web that Linksys does not plan to make driver updates for these cards. So before you install 7 use the compatibility program and see if your Network card will work. I will no longer be buying any Linksys products. I bought a new D-Link Network card and it says on the box that it will work with Vista so it should work fine with 7, I ended up putting in a Realtech Network card in place of the Linksys and it work perfectly and they had new drivers for it that I downloaded and installed. I guess Linksys doe not give a hoot about their customers so why should I give a hoot about them. I can not believe they did not even update their drivers for Vista, sad shame on you Linksys.

Here is some of the page info, to read the rest go here XP Dell Dimension 2400 Physical Memory Dump Error
I worked on a dell dimension 2400 that had lost the onboard video, Start Menu, Task Bar, internet and it only had PCI slots no AGP or PCI express slots. I work on family and friends computers for free, so I looked around the basement and came up with an old PCI 3dfx Voodoo 3 card, I really wondered if XP the OS on the computer would even have drivers for it. I put it in the number one PCI slot, that slot is always reserved for a video card and hooked the monitor cable to it and it worked. I tried booting the computer and was able to get into the BIOS. I was going to disable the onboard video but it only gave me the option for Auto or Onboard, so it got set to Auto. So now I had a monitor to see what was going on with the computer. The owner said she had no Start Menu or Task Bar and could not get online, that she kept getting error messages, the first one I got was a IPmon.exe error message. I did a search on Google and most sites indicated it was a malicious Trojan. I rebooted into Safe Mode and download Malwarebytes on my flash drive and then dragged it onto the wounded computers Desktop. It installed but gave a message error when I tried to open it.
Well I finally got my enclosures and made my own External Hard Drives. It was very easy and they work great!!! I put together a How-To on this page Make External Hard Drive. Hope it helps and you make one of your own.
I have always looked at those external hard drives and then looked away because of the cost. I have a couple 120 gig hard drives laying around that I do not use anymore or if you have old computers laying around you can take those drives out. Anyways you can make your own External Hard Drive by just buying a $19.99 enclosure, plug in the old hard drive and bingo External Hard Drive. You can get them for IDE or for Sata drives, ordered two for my 120 gig drives and will do a how to, it is always good to save money.
Bought a 3 pack upgrade of 7 and upgraded my gaming computer to 7 from XP, details here: Moving to Windows 7 I really like it so far had a few hardware issues. So far all of my software is working on 7. Check it out, will be adding more info after I get a ton of files moved over from my main computer to the new 7 machine.
I moved the Vista link from the XP Help section to the Computer Help section in the Java Menu and start pages. Added a Windows 7 page about getting ready for moving to 7, the link is in the Computer Help section. I intend to buy 7 and have started a section on it, it will be on sale Oct 22 2009. I will post about the installation and differences from other versions, also address any problems that occur using 7. I have also added more games to each of my Flash Arcades.
Added more games to the two Gaming Arcades. Removed some old outdated links. Corrected some pages and made the News Feed on the home page display the text differently. Updated 4 flash card games and added 3 new ones in the Original Game Room-Flash Games section.
Put my Son in-laws site back up Nakedmetalrestorations.com they do Vehicle frame offs, full Concours, Rotisserie Restoration or just new Paint. Brandon and Chris are experts at this, if you need a vehicle restored go to their website, I setup a Contact page and a picture gallery of vehicles they have worked on.
I noticed that when I went to play the Java games on my Original Game Room with IE they did not work. If you go to Tools-Manage Add ons and then click the Toolbars and Extension button-then Enable Sun Microsystems, Incs: Web Browser Applet Control and Java Plugin. There was another Sun Microsystems which was (not Verified) the JQSIEStartDectorImpl Class, I made sure that was enabled also. They should now work, had no problems with Firefox.
