Running out of IP addresses, 1 year to go.

These are some interesting articles about why we are running out of IP addresses. Most of the problems are because of the explosion of data that is about to happen, one of which are mobile devices. We need to implement the IPv6 Protocol that uses a 128-bit address. We are currently using the IPv4 Protocol which uses a 32-bit Address. As a Home PC user we would need a new Router that would be able to handle the IPv6 packets, which are much bigger then the IPv4 packets. Also the Internet Service Providers will also have to update their equipment, they are the companies that provide us with our IP Addresses.

This article explains what the two Protocols are and the differences on Wikipedia: IPv6

This article on ReadWriteWeb discusses why it is needed, what companies such as Facebook and Google are doing: Less Than 1 Year Until The Internet Runs Out of Addresses

This is a video of Vint Cerf of Google urging ISP’s to move to the IPv6 Protocol before we run out of IP Addresses:

Gulf Coast mostly Cash Business

NPR (National Public Radio) has published an article about the Gulf fishing industry and how much is operating as cash only. Full article here:

Cash Business In Gulf Makes Compensation Difficult

Being that A LOT of businesses operate on a cash basis only and do not and have not file Tax forms or payed Taxes should these Businesses be compensated by BP, I say no Income tax papers no money. Where is Bobby Jindals explanation as to why his state government has allowed this to go on forever? Were not talking about a couple fisherman, it is the fishing Industry, lawn workers, mechanics who repair the boats, the dock buyers, unreal. Come on Jindal start making these people pay their fair share of the taxes for your state and the country.

How do these people buy a car, the Boat, homes, they make that much cash that they can do like the drug dealers and buy everything out right with cash? If I buy a car or home first thing they want are my Tax returns and some in Louisiana are calling for a Tax Amnesty for these Tax Cheaters, if they get it, give us all the taxes we have payed back and then give us a Tax Amnesty from ever having to pay Taxes again, everyone that plays by the rules deserves it more then Tax Cheaters do. I feel very bad for the people in the Gulf, but if you are a Tax Cheater, not so much, no tax returns no payments, you knew the consequences when you did it, live with those consequences.

Colorado Springs and Small Government

Here is a little about what I experienced in Colorado Springs, Illegals and Homelessness:

Years ago I moved to Colorado Springs to look for a construction job and possibly relocate from Arizona. I lived in a large motel complex that rented rooms by the month, after moving in I noticed that 80% of the people living there were Mexican men who would wait in the main parking lot in groups every day waiting for some one to pull up and offer them work for the day. I had seen something like this before when I was homeless in Arizona, other homeless people I met at county parks, would go to certain spots around Mesa to get what they called day labor (basically employers preying on cheap cash labor) , (Note: I was living out of my van, most were living out of their cars ) these were not illegals but Americans that could not find work. People need to realize that once you become homeless getting a job is not really an option, not because they do not want a job, but in order to be hired by a legitimate company you need a Phone Number and Permanent Address, once you loss those you are in a bad way, it cost at least $1,500.00 up front to get an Apartment and another $90.00 to $120.00 down to get a Phone. Off note I had met a lot of women that would come to Phoenix to get and Apartment and a new job to find that $500.00 was not going to get them an Apartment, Phone, Electric, etc, a lot of them danced at Strip Clubs until they earned enough money to get the essentials and be able to apply for a regular job. I was lucky after a month or two a friend allowed me to park at their house and use their address and phone number to get a full time job.

Back to CS so here I was living with illegals and looking for work, I had my van and it had over $10,000.00 worth of tools in it so I was very concerned about it being broken into, but after meeting some of the folks there I did not worry any more, everyone looked out for each other. But the point is there were a lot of illegals in that city, this was in 1981. I did find a framing job with a local construction company in just a few days, but after working 2 weeks for the guy he up and tells me he doesn’t have the money to pay me, but he could give me drugs instead, I was floored and said NO, after doing more checking I unfortunately found out his main thing was dealing drugs, I thought about turning him in but decided that might lead to bad things so just dropped it, actually that had happened before, in Arizona, you never know. Illegals were every where in Arizona, at the time they mostly worked doing Farm and Landscaping jobs and a lot of them were allowed to live in the nearby Orchards or there were certain landlords that would rent to them. I never saw any illegal Mexicans working in Framing you need to have the proper tools, a van or truck and have good math skills, we did have to contend with snowbirds coming down for the winter months and working for half the price, problem was the snowbirds were slow, framing in Arizona is VERY different then the Midwest.

Back to Colorado Springs, I ended up staying there for a couple months and did find legit contractors to work for, but the wages were low and decided to head back to Arizona where the wages were better. When I was in CS it was a very nice community it reminded me of a town in the Midwest, really nice parks and a well kept clean city. So fast forward to now, Colorado Springs is cutting taxes and local government services because the voters have voted for it and the recession is cutting into the tax revenues, so if you would like an idea about what it is like to live in a city whose services are being cut right and left, (Smaller Government) read these articles at the DenverPost.com:

Colorado Springs cuts into Services 02/03/2010
Colorado Springs experimenting with loss of services 07/04/2010

Quote from second: article

“These medians and parks that are being adopted are in wealthy neighborhoods,” she said. “We are seeing the creation of a community of haves and have nots.”

To those people who want smaller Government be careful of what you wish for, unless of course you are one of the top 2% then hell yes. To the rest of us it means a wider gap in the class structure, America works because the 98% were receiving enough income to buy a Home, a new car or two, nice furniture and some toys, plus for some the ability to send your children to College. It has been undermined for the last 10 years and our bottom lines have been going down or flat not up like some would like us to believe. The America we love and remember needs to change and change fast or we are going to be a two class nation, cheap labor is great for those that reap the rewards but does nothing to keep America strong. The 98% need a decent income so the American dream survives, right now the top 20% own most of the wealth in this country.

Check out the information in this article at sociology.ucsc.edu; Who Rules America? for the data of wealth distribution from 1983 to 2007. Come on America Wake Up, money is power but so are your choices, buy American made products and vote for people who are behind the 98% not the top 2%, I am for people making money but not because they prey off or want cheap labor, Americans have fought hard for a better life, but that is being taken away by a very small majority, Greed can be good, but not when it hurts 98% of Americans. Just my 2 cents, lol, well .05 cents now.

Agricultural jobs why Americans do not take them

If a Jamaican agricultural worker receives $10.00 per hour here in the United States, in Jamaica that is $854.30 JMD.
So 40 hours X $10.00 = $400.00 US in Jamaica he is bringing home $34,170.00 JMD, nice income.

If a Mexican makes $10.00 per hour that is $130.60 Mexican Peso.
If an Illegal Mexican makes $400.00 for 40 hours he brings home $5,224.00 pesos, nice income.

Plus if these people work for a farmer/Grower he or she gets room and board, they live on-site, so their expenses are minimal.

Where as an American worker earning $400.00, out of that comes:
Federal and State Taxes
Social Security
Medicare
Rent or House payments
Automobile costs to get to work
Insurance
Property taxes if they own a Home
Child care if they have children
food and clothing
Electricity
Heat/cooling costs
Garbage
Phone
On and on…

Gee and you wonder why Americans avoid Farm/Growers jobs, who in America could afford to work for them on a seasonal basis, the Jamaicans and Mexicans are making a killing, why wouldn’t they want to work here and send all that money home.

The worlds largest oil skimmer is ready to start skimming oil in the gulf. Full story at The Huffington Post, it is named A Whale. It is just waiting for approval to start skimming, it needs 1/2 mile to turn and 1/2 mile clearance around it. A whale can capture 300,000 to 400,00 barrels of oil a day.

BP and wasted Natural Gas

June 6, 2010 by

Why in the world are oil platforms burning off all that Natural Gas. We need more energy and here they are wasting our Natural Gas, make them capture the gas and add it to our inventories for free, they are just burning it now. BP has already quoted that they have flared “22 million standard cubic feet of natural gas was flared” excuse me but if you can figure out how to burn it you can figure out how to capture it.
If you figure there are 3800 to 4000 oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico alone and BP has burned off 22 million cubic feet of natural gas up to June 5 2010 at the Horizon well, how much of our Natural Gas is burned off in one year by all these Oil Companies/Energy Companies – Oil Platforms. If BP burned up 22 million cubic feet in a month x 12 = 264,000,000 cubic feet of gas in 1 year x 4000 = 1,056,000,000,000 cubic feet of gas wasted in one year. Corporate waste, it never ends!
The BP quote comes from their website on the camera feeds of the spill, here is the link:
BP Website camera feed
Quote:Subsea operational update:
• On June 5, a total of 10,500 barrels of oil was collected and 22 million standard cubic feet of natural gas was flared.
• Optimization continues and improvement in oil collection is expected over the next few days.
Unreal!

This a Quote from Wikipedia about Natural Gas flaring:
Quote:

Flaring and venting of natural gas from oil & gas wells is a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions. Its contribution to greenhouse gases has declined by three-quarters in absolute terms since a peak in the 1970s of approximately 110 million metric tons/year and now accounts for 0.5% of all anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions.[4] The World Bank estimates that over 150 billion cubic metres of natural gas are flared or vented annually, an amount worth approximately 30.6 billion dollars, equivalent to 25 percent of the United States’ gas consumption or 30 percent of the European Union’s gas consumption per year.[5] This flaring is highly concentrated: 10 countries account for 75% of emissions, and twenty for 90%. The largest flaring operations occur in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The leading contributors to gas flaring are (in declining order): Nigeria, Russia, Iran, Algeria, Mexico, Venezuela, Indonesia, and the United States.[6] In spite of a ruling by the Federal High Court of Nigeria (that forbade flaring) in 2005, 43% of the gas retrieval was still being flared in 2006. It will be prohibited by law as of 2008.

BP Disaster!

Louisiana and other affected states should try turning this oil spill into a positive. I know that sounds crazy, but I am sure there are a lot of people who care about what is going on in the gulf coast states and would like to see for themselves the devastation. Car accident on the freeway what do people do, slow down and look. So use the disaster to bring tourist to see what is happening. The fishing boats could take tourist out to see the devastation up close. They could have bus tours to affected beaches and wildlife areas, not to be lib, but you could create new food dishes like The Tar Ball Sandwich, Dispersant Soup the BP Gumbo ( without all the sea food ), BP Jambalaya ( again without the sea food ). Set up games with BP Executive life size figures as Dart Boards or throw Tar Balls at them. Setup up an Oil Barrel in a restaurant with chocolate syrup pouring out the bottom. Make a desert that looks like Oil floating on it or a soup with a Oil Shine, Top Hat something. Not trying to make light of the situation but it is a reality, try turning it into a positive marketing tool, people are curious by nature and care about our ocean front states and I am sure would love to experience this up close, what do you have to lose. Make BP pay for all the Advertising and Marketing, be creative, be positive and use this to keep the state thriving. Just my two cents!

IE cannot display page

Whenever you get that from IE check in the Tools – Internet Options or go to the Control Panel and open Internet Options there, then go to the Security tab and click each Icon, Internet, Local intranet, Trusted sites and Restricted sites, click one and then click the Default Level button, after you have reset them all to the Default Level, click the Apply Button and then OK to close, you should be able to connect. If not reopen Internet Options and go to the Connections tab, then go to the LAN settings button, { this only applies to Broadband connections } uncheck everything in that panel and click Apply. Then go to the Advanced tab, click the Restore advanced settings button and then click Apply and OK to exit, try opening IE. This will happen when you upgrade IE, rollback to an earlier version of IE, or if your computer got infected and you remove the infection and cannot connect.
