Here is some of the page info, to read the rest go here XP Dell Dimension 2400 Physical Memory Dump Error

I worked on a dell dimension 2400 that had lost the onboard video, Start Menu, Task Bar, internet and it only had PCI slots no AGP or PCI express slots. I work on family and friends computers for free, so I looked around the basement and came up with an old PCI 3dfx Voodoo 3 card, I really wondered if XP the OS on the computer would even have drivers for it. I put it in the number one PCI slot, that slot is always reserved for a video card and hooked the monitor cable to it and it worked. I tried booting the computer and was able to get into the BIOS. I was going to disable the onboard video but it only gave me the option for Auto or Onboard, so it got set to Auto. So now I had a monitor to see what was going on with the computer. The owner said she had no Start Menu or Task Bar and could not get online, that she kept getting error messages, the first one I got was a IPmon.exe error message. I did a search on Google and most sites indicated it was a malicious Trojan. I rebooted into Safe Mode and download Malwarebytes on my flash drive and then dragged it onto the wounded computers Desktop. It installed but gave a message error when I tried to open it.

I have always looked at those external hard drives and then looked away because of the cost. I have a couple 120 gig hard drives laying around that I do not use anymore or if you have old computers laying around you can take those drives out. Anyways you can make your own External Hard Drive by just buying a $19.99 enclosure, plug in the old hard drive and bingo External Hard Drive. You can get them for IDE or for Sata drives, ordered two for my 120 gig drives and will do a how to, it is always good to save money.

I noticed that when I went to play the Java games on my Original Game Room with IE they did not work. If you go to Tools-Manage Add ons and then click the Toolbars and Extension button-then Enable Sun Microsystems, Incs: Web Browser Applet Control and Java Plugin. There was another Sun Microsystems which was (not Verified) the JQSIEStartDectorImpl Class, I made sure that was enabled also. They should now work, had no problems with Firefox.

Windows 7

I have been really busy at work right now and to tired to do much on my websites, working is good, being to tired to work on my sites not so good. I did check out a little about Windows 7 and it sounds like it will be better then Vista. One thing that worries me is that in order to run programs that were designed for XP, you will have to run them in whats called Virtual PC. The software is free but it will only work with the Professional and up versions, it is also a beta right now. Here is a link to a MS Article about it: Windows Virtual PC. This is Windows 7 home page: Windows 7. I plan on buying 7 so I can add info about it to my site. Vista wasn’t worth the money as far as I was concerned. You should also check out what requirements are needed to run 7, here is a link to the System Requirements: Windows 7 requirements.

Have not seen any pricing yet, but I will be buying the full retail version not the upgrade version or the OEM, I never upgrade, to many problems, I just reformat the drive or buy a new drive and do a clean install. If you buy a new drive and just disconnect the XP drive and connect the new drive and then install 7, if there are problems I can always just reconnect the XP drive and run that or switch back and forth.

I recently work on a Laptop that had a 70gig harddrive. The owner was getting the disk is full error and was puzzled, because he did not have much installed on the harddrive. I checked it out and he did not indeed have anything much installed but the harddrive was showing only 255MB of space left on the 70 gig drive. I could not find any folder with any amount of files it on the C: drive. I removed some unneeded software but only got it to 455 MB of free space. The rest of the Article is here Disk Full.

Win32/Vundo virus and Antivirus 2008 Pro trojan Removal

I recently was trying to cleanup a computer for a relative and it had the Win32/Vundo virus and Antivirus 2008 Pro trojan on it and 8 other little buggers, they would let IE open and I was able to go to some sites, but was redirected when trying to go to Windows Update or any site that would have a tool to remove these buggers, I would be redirected to asiuoqgusdbaksd.com and then you get redirected to a site like the one you were searching for, like Spybot Search and Destroy it would redirect you from asiuoqgusdbaksd.com to a false Spybot download site.
I tried downloading Spybot to a Flash drive and then cut and pasted it to the infected computer, suprise, suprise, lol, it disabled opening certain exe files, Firefox-No, Spybot-No, it blocked any software that would be able to remove it. I was able to install Safari Browser ( Apples ) but when I tried to go to sites to download a tool I would get a error page. I was able to download AVG Free Antivirus and install it on the infected computer, but again when I tried to update the def files it blocked the download site, AVG found some infections 10 actually but was not able to remove them. I also was able to get to Windows Live OneCare and run the scan, which really surprised me, it found 10 infections also but could not remove them.
So this was getting fustrating and I was about ready to reformat and reinstall when I ran across Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Tool at malwarebytes.org I downloaded this from my clean computer to a Flash Drive and then copied and pasted it to the infected computers Desktop in Safe Mode and then clicked the .exe file to install it, hmmm nothing blocked, so for fun I renamed the file Howdy and clicked it, lol, it installed, I was not able to update it, but I ran the tool and it removed all but one infection, it then asked if it could run at startup and I checked OK, I then restarted and let it bootup normally, Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware Tool ran before Windows XP Pro started and it removed the last infection and then let Windows finish booting. Once XP was up I was able to install Spybot Search and Destroy and update it, it found one more infection. The computer was almost back to normal, I was able to start Firefox and was able to get to Windows Update. I had uninstalled all the Java file in Add and Remove, so I had to get that installed, then the Background tab and Screen Saver Tab were missing in Desktop Properties, I got those working. Then I updated Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware Tool and AVG Free and ran them on full scans, they found a few tracking cookies, these scans take a few hours.
Those are some nasty little infections, lol, but you can get them removed and reclaim your computer. That tool Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Tool at malwarebytes.org is a free tool, you can purchase the Pro version, which I think I may do to support it, but the free version worked great, I have added it to my Start Menu, I now have, AVG Free AntiVirus, Spybot Search and Destroy and now Malwarebytes. If you need help or have questions use the Contact Form.
One Note: if you use a USB or Flash Drive to transfere files to a infected computer, they can get infected so make sure you scan them for infections when connecting them back up to the clean computer, just right click on them in My Computer and run scans before openning any files.
