Well thanks so much mike for your site and your time...
I finally got it reformatted correctly, but now I can't seem to get the color to get off 16 bit, I have went thru the trouble shooters help for display , and did everything it said and still it will not change to 256 or 32 bit color..

Also, it wont let certain programs run due to this color problem..

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Maggie
Download and install new drivers for your Graphics Adapter/Card and make sure you have the lastest DirectX which is 8.1. Sorry for not responding right away, my email was getting blocked and deleted, not sure how that happened.
