You need to take the 2 128 sticks out since they share the resources with the other slot. Also it's unlikely your computer will recongize 768mb.

Try removing the 128's and just put in the 512 and see if it is recoginized in the Bios, then see if you can boot to 98, check in System Information to see if it list the right size ram. if not take it out and try one of the 128, then take that out and try the other 128. This will tell you what sticks are good and which ones are bad. Also check your Computers manual to see how much total ram your Mother Board supports. It may only support 512 megs total.

While updating memory in my brothers HP Pavillion, He has a 64 mb stick in slot 2. I installed a new 256 mb in slot 1. The computer wouldn't boot, As I mean, the lite on the monitor stayed yellow. So I took the 64 mb out & tried with the 256 mb. still no boot. I tried the 256 in slot 2, still nothing. So I then put the 256 in my computer, "I have a Fic 503+ mobo." I took out all of my 72 pin 32mb sticks & my computer showed 128mb with the 256 in it? I then put his 64 mb. along with 256 in mine & I was booting at 196.600 mb. So then I took out the 256 & put my 4 72pin 32mb back in mine along with his 64mb. I was still booting at 196.600. I can't figure out why his won't recongnize the 256? Do you think we should get 2- 128 sticks & try that? His manual says it will support 256mb.I'm also wondering if his Dimm 1&2 slots will only recongnize 128mb each? Any other idea's out there?

Hi Gary
There are a few different kinds of Ram, try the Ram Selector in the computer Help section to find the correct ram for that machine. Then have a computer shop test the stick to see if it is the right ram for that machine.
