Hi Mike

Another problem now!! Ive removed 512mb stick and everythings fine. BUT I was on the pc last night and it was fine for about 2 hours then it just went off as if the plug had been pulled! Opened up the case (red LeD on board still lit). Pressed the on button and nothing happened. Tried again 10 mins later and it almost started! fan spun front case Leds flashed but then nothing. Left it a few hours and it started again no problems but the power died again after 20 mins. Any Ideas?

It isn't a Packard Bell by chance is it? Also if you can get it booted again, check & see if you have the standby mode enabled.

ok, just asking as the packard bells have a tendency to blow P/S. Also getting back to your memory question. How many slots does your board have? I'm assuming they are 168 pin. Normally the slots work in unison of 1&3 2&4. Try putting your 512mb in slot1 see if it boots. Then try putting a 128mb in slot2. If that doesn't work, try the 128 in slot3.

Cheers! Will do! It does boot (well it did do!!) with the 512mb in but it only sees it as 216. I put it in slot 1 (4 slots) then the next two slots 128 each.I took the 512 out in case that was what cause the pc to stop but it hasbt made any difference! I will have a go with the new Powersupply tonight. If I post a response tonight it worked if not... well, i think that should e obvious!!!!! :O)

230 power supply is not enough for all that hardware, I'm surprised it boots up, the 350 should be better, actually I would have gone with 400-450. The 512 ram, check after you boot, in System Information and see what windows reads it as.

Success! PC boots and is happily purring along nicely! Thanks for advice! Just need to find out if M/board takes the 512 or not! :-)
