Mike, I'm having a problem with Iexplorer. Like when I close this page out, I hit ctrl/alt/delete, It shows that iexplorer is still running in the tastbar. I have to click the end task twice to get it to close before I can open another page. I've run the ie repair tool & I have all the latest updates installed. I don't know what else to do now? It doesn't do this everytime but it is getting annoying when I'm in a hurry. Any Idea's? Thanks...P.S. Win98 se. 128mb

Oufta ! not sure, I would try clearing IE tempory files ( cache files ) maybe it is to full. also go through the Options and reset everything, when you repaired, some were reset. Also in the Program Tab, make sure the IE should check each time to see if it is the Default browser thing is unchecked. This happens to me on some pages also, I will get a button on the task bar that will not open and will not close and I have to use the 3 finger salute to close it, the page is programed to do that, it is tracking where you are going, just like getting on a site and not being able to leave it with the back button, some sites are just plain rude !

Well Mike, I tried everything I could think of & the problem got worse each day. The cont\alt\delete wouldn't work after awhile. It got so bad that the computer would crash if I tried to open another web page, I run different virus scans & nothing was found,Even tried reinstalling windows, that seemed to make it worse!....So I formatted again. Everything is back to normal now,.... No problems yet :)

That problem was really strange Gary, it probably wasn't IE, it was probably some program that you installed, did you have any other Browser installed or popup stopper or a Firewall ?

I did have a popup stopper installed but I had used it for months & there were'nt any problems. I uninstalled it when the problems started thinking that was it, but it didn't make any difference. I read something about a "Backdoor Doly virus"... though my computer didn't act like the symtems they described,...I'm beginning to wonder? I also noticed that I had lost all my settings in "Internet Options & in the windows setup tabs" The fields were blank... But after a clean install of windows again....It's running as smooth as ever :)

HA!, I finally figured out what was causing my problems. It seems that I downloaded some new cars from the "Need for speed, porsch unlimited" NFS site. I installed a few of the cars & tried them, everything worked ok, Then I installed one after I checked it for virus', there weren't any. but when I tried to play the game, the computer locked up & now I'm back to the same problems. There is nothing showing in the windows setup tab & nothing in my internet connections tab either, blank!! I uninstalled the game & all it's files but the computer still won't close out the Iexplorere when I closeout the page. So now I'm back to square one again. Just thought I'd give you this update. Well back to the drawing board again!!

I wonder if running System File Checker will find the bad files or just reinstalling Windows over Windows would fix the corrupted files?
