Hi
I have a sony vaio, 2 years old
It has 2 20gb HD ( C+D )
I run win ME and my HD's are shown as pie charts
the C show 212mb free and the D has 4.37GB free
I have moved all my document and videos and music to the D drive and don't know what is taking up all the C space
My comp still runs smooth x cept if I run to many programs at once it will say not enough memory to run this program - shut some down - but otherwis no probs - but I haven't downloaded anything lately, and I will need to update my virus defs soon. so then - my ? is should I use F disk to delete all and start over? I have done scan disk, defrag, etc... does that delete data on both drives? since my C drive is 20 GB but only has capacity for 15.9 GB is that a partition? will I have to set that again?

There are a few things you can do.
If you have a cd burner, burn your Pictures and any music to cds, these take up a lot of harddrive space.
You could go to Add/Remove in the Control Panel and Remove/Uninstall any software you do not use.
After doing these run ScanDisk and then Drefrag to reorganize your Harddrive.
It does not show the full 20 gig of the harddrive because of some hidden files like the Master Boot record etc. My 40 gig only shows 37.2 gigs.
If that does not free up enough space, I would backup important info and Reformat and reinstall the OS, note: ME is very buggy most people have switched to XP Home or Pro, which runs faster and is very stable, I run Pro.
To Reformat and reinstall with the OS cd, go into the Bios and have it Boot to the CD first, after setup is done go back into the Bios and change the Bootup to HD0-CDrom-Floppy.
