Go into your Bios and in your Boot Options and set it to Boot to the Harddrive First, then setup the Passwords in the Bios, to lock people out of those settings, then in your Network Utility in the Control Panel use Client for Microsoft Networks or Microsoft Family Logon and use a User Name and Password to Login into Windows and use the START-LOGOFF to leave Windows, it should prompt you for them each time you bootup. Don't forget the Passwords and User Names!!!!!

In the Control Panel-Network Icon-on the first screen, go down to where it says Primary Network Logon-choose Windows Logon. If the Screen to logon appears when you reboot, put in a Name only, no Password, then click OK.

In another response to Passwording the Computer, if you go into the Bios and set the Supervisor Password, then choose ( this is in my Ambios Bios ), in the Features Setup Menu, choose Always at Password Check. At boot up you will not be able to access anything until you enter a password. Check your Bios Manufacture or the computers Manual on how to set this up for your Bios and do not forget the password !!!

Yes you can, you will have to check to see if it was formated in NTFS or Fat32 file system, if Fat you can use fdisk, if NTFS use the XP disk to reformat back to Fat32, fdisk does not recognize NTFS. The drivers for 98 should be on your disks or thier Web sites. What you may want to do is pick up another Harddrive and set it to Slave and slave it off the XP drive, then install 98 on that drive, XP will find 98 and you will have a choice of booting to 98 or XP, in XP you can set the Default OS that the Computer boots up. That way you have both and can play around with XP.

I need help Mike. I have windows ME and I tried using my Microsoft Picture It Publishing 2001 and it says my outlook express 5 is missing or broken. Well the thing is I did what it said to do..which was restart, uninstall it then reinstall Picture-It. But nothing happened. I still cant use it cause it says that outlook is still missing or broken. Now I've looked on the net to see if I could find outlook to reinstall it but I was either dense or something cause I couldn't find it. I know it has to be somewhere in my comp stuff but where? Please help me! Toni

I would just like to add one thing about using the password in your bios. If you do forget the password, you can look in your motherboard manual and find the right jumper to reset your bios. This will erase all the infomation stored in the bios, and let you back into your computer. Just make sure to put the jumper back into the stored position before turning your computer back on! There are some other more effective methods of keeping people out of your system, although more expensive. All types of things are available ranging from fingerprint identifiers, to retina scanners.

Good one crazydavey, also on some you need to remove the Battery and then use the jumper, then put the battery back in and reboot.

I should add another thing to this post. Since this thread is about protecting your hard drive, and I mentioned one insecurity that isn't hard to do. If you are really worried about your info on the drive, you should also invest in some kind of case lock.

im not sure if this is something that is too important but the encoding on a webpage changes sometimes and when it does it makes the words huge which then causes a webpage hard to read. id like to keep it on greek (windows) but when i change it to that the next stupid page will change it back. is there a way i can keep it to the encoding i want? ive figured out how to change that one but how can i keep all of them like that?

Those pages are probably set by the Author to automatically display that way, set in the coding of the page.

I would try Adaware to see if it is a Spyware Program it is free. Also there is Spybot link on my Home page that is what I use.
