A friend of mine brought me thier computer ( HP 6640c)to reinstall win 98. I fomatted the drive & then discovered they couldn't find the restore disks, so I did a fresh install with my win 98se. I was able to find the drivers for the audio & video "onboard sis 86c306 video driver but now whenever I try to play a game that they had on there, it says it can't find a 3-D graphics card. I've searched HP's site & there is no support available for this model #. I used the "Aida computer info program to identify the video, so I know I've downloaded the right drivers. Also the CPU is a "AMD K6-2 500mhz. I'm wondering if the video chip is bad? Everything thing else works great except for the video problem. This computer was able to play games requiring 3-D before. PS. In the bios, I'm able to set the video ram to 8mb total shared. & it shows that there is indeed a 86c306 directx 3D installed. Now I'm wondering if the cpu is bad because it doesn't state anything about supporting 3d grahpics?

OK, I was finally able to locate the proper driver for the video. I opened the case & got the number for the video chip "SIS 5595" Then thanks to "Drivers guide.com" I got the right driver installed & everything works perfectly!
