Mike, I installed a CD burner & it works great! Now I want to backup the files on my win98se. When I click the backup tab, it says I don't have any backup devices installed. I run the setup program to detect the drive but it doesn't reconigize it. I have the backup feature installed in system tools also. This feature did work before I installed the burner, any ideas?

Hi Gary
The software that came with your burner should have a backup feature in it, I use Nero ( $40.00 )and it will do a Harddrive Backup ( Restore Disk ), I would just backup the data you do not have install disks for, but you may be doing Restore disks on systems you are putting together for people.

I have the Aopen burner & it came with the nero software.I could run backup before & I would just put it in another folder. I don't have that feature anymore! It did work before I installed the burner. I'm wondering if I should try uninstalling the burner & then try the backup? I removed the original cd as I didn't see any need for it, since the burner has all the features & when I want to record a disk or files It saves them in it's own format & tells me to insert a clean disk to record too. I'm curious, as to what happened to my backup feature, I've uinstalled it & reinstalled, but It keeps telling me that I don't have a backup device on here, where as before , it asked me where I wanted to save the backup to.

I just tried mine and I got the same message, I said no to detect New Hardware and went right to creating a backup, everything was fine, recognized all the drives and the cd-rw. I have never used it before.
