Hey Mike, have you ever heard of a volumn that won't stay put? I recently installed win98 on a friends computer "Compaq with the es1887 sound driver" It was working fine till I tried playing a midi, then the little volumn bar that shows in the taskbar just started sliding down!? I move it back up & it slides right back down. It won't stay put. I downloaded the updated drivers for it, but that didn't help. I've never seen one do this before.I went into vol. control prop. & it won't stay put in there either, even after I quit the midi program.

That is wierd !!
Try going to the Control Panel-Add/Remove-Windows Setup and remove the volume control, then reinstall it.
