Our oldest boy moved back home and has Windows XP Home Edition on his Computer. Installs fairly easy, I had to have the system boot to the CD-ROM, didn't find it booting to the IDE-0 then CD-ROM. It is hard to get to utilities in xp, everything is buried 3 to 4 or more layers, Scandisk isn't called Scandisk, but it runs before xp opens, which is good. It does seem fast, did not like the fact that Messenger automaticly runs, you can turn it off by typing in msconfig in Run and uncheck it. Has most drivers and installs them without disks. Also comes with a Firewall and System Restore which runs in the background, Restore uses over 2 gigs of harddrive storage by default, I set it down to 1 gig, you have less go back points. XP is OK still like 98se, a lot of maintence, but easier to get to things, ( you can switch XP to 98s interface ). I guess I will wait till the price goes down, then I will run a dual boot system with 98 and XP, still have a lot of older programs I use that are not and never will be compatible with XP. After you install XP I would do a little Tweaking on it if your are a Gamer and have a slower system. Here is the Tweak site I used Optimize XP
