I've been out of gaming for a LONG time due to various reasons, one of which being that I no longer had a computer. Last games I had were Warcraft II, Duke N 3D, Quake etc. Pretty sad really.

Now circumstances have changed and I'm looking to get a new computer and get back into gaming. Thing is, I now have little idea of what the operating requirements are for most of the latest games.

I'd be grateful if any of you could point me towards the minimum I should get in a PC, especially video cards.

I've heard about 3D accelerators, so I'd like to know what cards support 3D acceleration (and the price I'd be looking at)and also what are the next best cards that do not (assuming they are less expensive). Also any recommendations as to a reasonably priced monitor 15" to 17" to make the most of the graphics also.

thanks in advance
