Remote connection problem

This may be too obscure of a problem for anyone to help, but I'm giving it a shot. Also, I'm not technically inclined, so bear that in mind.

My company allows employees to work from home. We use VPN to connect to the company's network and then use NetMeeting to connect to my PC. To use VPN, you must have an internet connection first. Everything worked fine until a month ago. Now, I can initially connect fine (most of the time), but after a minute or so, I lose my internet connection (or that's the end result...I'm not sure if that's the problem or the result of another problem). I use AOL for my internet provider. Their support is useless. They just state that the version of AOL I have (6.0) doesn't support VPN..?????. I then tried using at trial verson of Prodigy and I get the same problem. My co-workers do not have this problem, so that makes me think there is some setting on my computer that is the culprit, but I'm clueless to find it. Sorry for the length of this question. I am desperate for help. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Anne
