Hi Mary
Blue screens can be caused by a lot of things. If you get one at shut down it is usually because you have a Virus program running, A Win32 blue screen for me was a bad CPU. I read that your 0028 error was 90% of the time bad RAM, which would also give you the other problems, I just took out a bad stick of 128 meg ram that was also giving me Blue Screens and problems running my programs. Buy good Ram, Micron is the best and it is very cheap right now, put in at least 128 megs, min 64 megs for Windows. Look in your computers manual for the type of ram it needs or go to the Link below at Crucial.com and use thier search feature to find what kind of ram you need. It is very easy to install. Also, when you run the Defrag, open the Close Utility - Ctrl-Alt-Delete - and End the Task on everything but Systray and Explorer then run your Defrag, run Scandisk first before you Defrag. Email me or post again if this helped or if you need more help. Mike
