The Ideal way to do this is to use a partitioning software, I use Partition Magic. It will setup the Partitions for you, giving you the minimum requirments that Linux would need, I would use about 2gig if you want a full install of let say Mandrak 8. Your Primary Partition ( or C:/Drive as would be shown in Fdisk )should be Windows. If you decide to remove Linux later, Partition Magic will restore the partition back to a Fat32 file format, otherwise you would have to use your Linux disk to format it back to a fat32. Fdisk will not see the Linux Partition. The best way to do this and it is what I do is, slave a drive off your main drive, Partition that drive and put Linux and your Storage on it. If you need to use your Restore disk unplug the slave drive or set BootMagic to boot to Windows Only and restore the main drive. I use BootMagic to switch between Linux and Windows, this comes with Partition Magic.
Hope this Helps Mike
