PC won't boot...

Hi Mike,

Just stumbled into your site when looking for help and before I call out the warranty guys, I thought I'd see if you could help me fix it myself..

So, its a new PC, an Athlon A-1500 XP, fitted with a K7SEM board, 512mb and a Geforce 2 card.

On switching it on, the 1st things that appears on the screen is some blurb about the graphics card being recognised, then starts the ususal self test routine and hangs when it gets to the PCI devixce listing stage. It detects, (or recognises or whatever) the IDE controller, 2 serial bus controllers and a few other things with bus numbers, device numbers and so on, but stops at the ACPI controller with no bus numbers etc listed next to it.

Only hardware change since it last lived is only a new monitor, now I think of it the graphics card I think worked previuously when I set up the machine and installed win2000 pro after an fdisk.

The Bios is setup to detect hardware automatically and seems ok with things as far as I can tell. Having fiddled with a few things with the aid of the manual I failed to get any change. Used the jumpers to reset and still no change. Only tried this after failing to boot with a floppy..

Apologies for the rather long post, but I'm stumped. Help?

Its got a warranty but in the finest of print I discovered its a RTB, so obviously would like to try to fix myself if possible..

Thanks..
