A lot of games need to run in 640 X 480 at 256 colors, also go to the ctrl-alt-delete screen and End Task on everthing you don't need running before you play the game, you need SysTray and Explorer, espeacially turn off Anti Virus Programs after your done playing the game reboot and all that stuff will startup again.
