I spent some time lately cleaning house on my computer and now I've run into trouble.... When I receive emails with links in them I cannot click on the link, I have to cut and paste, and some of the links on webpages aren't working either. HELP! Any suggestions on what I did wrong, how to fix it or how NOT to do it again? Thanks!

Hi Rachael
Go to Start-Accessories-System Tools-System Information, in System Information go to the Tools Button-Internet Explorer Repaire Tool, run that to repaire IE and Outlook. After you are done open IE and go to Tools-Internet Options-Security Tab, set all the Icons to the Default setting, clicking Apply for each one. Next the Privacy Tab, I accept all cookies. Next go to the Advance Tab and set it to the Default and click Apply. In Outlook go to Create Mail-Format and choose Rich Text, also go to Tools Options and select the Send Tab, check the box Mail Sending Format= HTML. Let me know if this helped !!!

Mike ~ Thanks. I did all that and it's still pausing when I click on links. A Microsoft Internet Explorer window *trys* to open, but that's about it. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

When you click on a link hold down the Shift key and see if it will open using the popup stopper, otherwise, Exit the popup stopper and see if the links work.

Nope, tried that. No luck there either. Everything worked with the Pop Up Stopper. I was getting an error message that some program would not work because I'd deleted Mozilla. I don't have a clue what Mozilla is or if I even need it. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Mozilla ia a Browser, Netscape is based on Mozilla.
I guess I would uninstall Internet Explorer in the Add/Remove Ut in the Control Panel. I would make sure you have a 2nd browser installed like Netscape, just incase. When you remove IE it should go back to an earlier version, then just go to Windows Update and reupdate it.
If that doesn't work my next step would be to reinstall Windows, not a reformat and install just install it to repaire corrupted files.

Mike ~ This is what ended up working for me... Not a clue what it all means, but it worked. Thanks for all your help!

~~~
If you're running IE 6.0, do this:
Go to Start/run, and type SFC.
Choose 'Extract One File From Installation Disk'.
Type oleaut32.dll, not worrying about its location. Then, click Start.
Next to 'Restore From', type in or browse for the file’s location, which is probably in the Win98 folder of your installation CD-ROM (typically D:\Win98), or in your Windows\Options\Cabs folder, as the case may be.
Then, next to 'Save File In', enter C:\Windows\System, and click OK. System File Checker looks for the file, saves it as you requested, and then tells you that 'the file has been successfully extracted'.
I wasn't sure if System File Checker would find the problem, it sounded like a file got deleted. Good job !!! Your a true geek (-B
I added a section to my Outlook Express Tips page on how to backup your email folders and address book for those of you interested. http://mikescomputerinfo.com/outlook.htm
This was a bad experience for Racheal and made me backup my email data,
