I shake my head in disgust because normally it's an easy thing to do. However, be that as it may:

I installed Partition Magic on my HD, to boot a different version
of windows depending upon my mood. However, something happend and it's all messed up. When I turn on the machine, the windows logo appears for a second, then it goes into DOS. One time I just entered a boot disk and told the computer to format the drive so I could start over again. No go...it got so far then stopped saying that it dectected a partition. I don't have the PM start disk.

So, how can I format my HD from this position? Or shall I just buy a new one and beat the %@#$ out of the old one? :-)

Also, I have a slave HD inside the machine as well: D drive.
I want to remove or at least disable it as when I tried to install windows before it tried to access the windows CD on the D drive because it thought that was it by default. The CD drive is actually the E drive.

So, how can I disable the slave drive (will physically removing it be enough?) and set the CD drive default to D?

THANK YOU to anyone who can and is willing to help.

Cheers,
sunsetorange.

Hi Sunsetorange
Sounds like your having fun ( :
When you installed Partition Magic did you also install Boot Magic, this is what gives you the choices to boot to different OSes. If you did, use the Boot Magic rescue disk to reboot to the BootMagic screen and turn it off and boot directly to your C: drive.
The slave drive, I would just unplug it from the computer, leave it in, just unplug all the connections to it, then restart your computer, the Bios will then set the cd-rom to the D drive. Let us know if that help !!

Ah! Good idea--if I can find a Boot Magic rescue disk. Some guy set this system up for me over a year ago and he turned out to be a twit (pardon my harsh language) and wont go back to him. However, I'm sure I can find someone with such a disk. I'll keep ya posted. :)

Cheers,
Sunsetorange.
