Hi,
We've been trying to get our computer to better use the Direct3D capabilities on our computer. We have AMD-K6(2) 333 MHz 3D processor Intel MMX(TM) Technology
96MB RAM and have an SiS 6326 video graphics accelerator card with 8MB of dedicated video memory installed
using Microsoft Windows 98(first edition) with all available upgrades to OS, windows library, etc.
We get an error message when using the Win98 DirectX Diagnostic Tool's Direct 3D Test: error: "Failure at step 17 (query for D3D) H Result = 0 X 80004002 (No Interface)"
I don't have a clue what this error message is saying, nor how to fix it so the Direct3D works properly. Also, we're using DirectX's latest version 8.0.
The DirectX diagnostic tool also shows we're using DirectX 5.0 (which is what came with Win 98 originally) and we're not, we have version 8.0. Also, the DirectX diagnostic tool shows we're using all old files, and we've installed all new version 8.0 files.
We also get an error message when using HASBRO's Scrabble version2.0 for Windows: "C Core Screen Init Fail Query Interface Failed" (which seems to be the same thing as the DirectX Diagnostic Tool error message), plus we get "C Core Application Error Failed to Initialize the Display"
Does anyone have a clue how to fix this? I couldn't find anything on this error message at the MS Knowledge Base, but maybe it's there somewhere, just couldn't find it, otherwise I'd have corrected it myself.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Ron
